In 1969 Gennaro Vitiello, theater director in Napoli, convinced Jean Genet to give his permission to stage Les Nègres, claiming that the black community of Italy were Neapolitans. This is the framework we use to frame our story. In 2022 the father of the kid, shot dead at fifteen while attempting a robbery with a toy gun, takes part to the demonstration for George Floyd’s death and, soon after, to the pickets of the huge organized unemployed movement in town. We though that these connections deserve a through reflection.
